Falls of Foyers
The Falls of Foyers (or Eas na Smùide in Gaelic, meaning the smoking falls) is a stunning waterfall on the River Foyers, which feeds into Loch Ness. There is a short but steep walk through beautiful native woodland to reach the viewpoint – the starting point can be found across the road from Foyers Stores and Waterfall Cafe.

Loch Ruthven Nature Reserve
Loch Ruthven Nature reserve is located approximately 14 miles away from Foyers Pier, in the neighbouring community of Strathnairn. It is one of the most important breeding sites for the rare Slavonian Grebe in the UK, and there is a small hide a short walk along the loch from which it is possible to view these birds, plus many other species of birds and other wildlife. Walking
There are many walks to be found on the south side of Loch Ness, from long-distance walks such as The South Loch Ness Trail and The Trail of the seven Lochs to shorter walks to waterfalls and lochs. Some are listed on the Walkhighlands website, or you can pick up a map of the area and do your own exploring.
